And the latest rumors claim that we might see countless Assassin’s Creed games on the Nintendo Switch 2 coming soon in addition to even more from next year, including a new entry into an entirely different reality of alternative history – if not past realities such as Pokémon Go tech tale. Such an announcement would be a significant boost to the visibility of Assassin’s Creed on Nintendo systems.
History Of Assassin’s Creed On Nintendo
Assassin’s Creed became famous in 2007 when Ubisoft initially launched the franchise on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, And Windows devices. Nintendo owners, however, weren’t extended the same level of help at the beginning. After Ubisoft became known as an endearing third-party developer to create games for the Nintendo platforms.
it took nearly a year until part of the Assassin’s Creed series reached their consoles thanks to the 2008s release titled; “Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles.” This was released on the Nintendo DS, as a spin-off and prequel of sorts to the original game.
By 2012, the Wii U finally saw both a mainline Assassin’s Creed title and an open-world entry in the series — two of which were released earlier that year with Assassin’s Creed III and later on during its sophomore season in 2013 when Ubisoft launched Ashraf Ismail’s sprawling sea-faring romp IV: Black Flag.

Ubisoft has, following this many years later, somewhat delivered with the Assassin’s Creed franchise on a Nintendo platform in some capacity since there were also ports of games from as far back as II to Rogue (with their DLC attached), and spin-offs like Liberation or Freedom Cry, an all included inside the same package – made for that little console/hybrid people call Switch.
More Assassin’s Creed Rebirth Switch 2 rumors
The report comes via a post on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit from user Astraliguss stating that Ubisoft has plans to launch its upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows title for the rumored Nintendo console (what people usually call Switch 2).
We are, of course, waiting on the console’s official moniker — with Sony yet to name its next-gen hardware at all — but an eighth-generation machine should theoretically provide ninth-gen-styled powers.
Prominent gaming leaker Nash Weedle speculates that Assassin’s Creed Shadows was developed from the ground up for Switch 2 and it will be released on day one of the console so to make sense, the tweet is consistent with a rumor by Necro Felipe.

If accurate, it would be the first Assassin’s Creed game to launch on Nintendo and other major formats at the same time for more than a decade. If the Switch 2 can handle a game like Dragon Age, that could be interesting – and shows for more capable levels of hardware.
Expanded Game Library
In promotion of this title ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ which Nash Weedle claims is one, NormanicGrav writes that “Ubisoft also plans to port other popular titles including the aforementioned previously unannounced variant.” along with: “the Switch 2 versions for all four total currently in development such as Origins, II Odyssey and IV Valhalla,”.
If you then count 3DS’ Assassin’s Creed Lost Legacies’, the series could be almost entirely present on at least one Nintendo platform in half a year or so.

If all this turns out to be true then, the next Switch could go toe-to-toe with PS4 and Xbox One in terms of third-party support. This rumor also fits with earlier reports claiming some of the biggest developers in gaming are working on a “large” game coming to Switch 2 that will take advantage of all this new console hype.
Industry Implications
The excitement for the potential Switch 2 launch line-up has been palpable with third parties keen to not repeat their initial oversight of the debut platform. It is also being said that this strategy implies the gaming industry wants to look for other ways of flourishing without having to wait around every time something new develops like with PlayStation 5 Pro or Grand Theft Auto 6.
The idea of nearly the entire Assassin’s Creed catalog coming to a Nintendo console is an exciting prospect for fans and may well establish that a third party could come back. The next iteration of gaming could take advantage in opportunities with new hardware such as Switch 2 and this would create pathways for growth for both developers and players.
In the end, these are just rumors and may not be based in truth but it would certainly make for an interesting future of Assassin’s Creed traveling to Nintendo platforms. There will be many eyes watching out for the Switch 2, anxiously waiting to hear more news about it and any games that accompany its release.
