Yoshimi Yasuda, who is the head of Dragami Games and one responsible for the creation of the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP tried to cheer up fans with his latest Twitter update.
Despite the ecstatic tone early on, questions were raised about content changes. Let’s break down why this announcement from Yasuda is so groundbreaking and what to expect from Docomo Online as it returns with a look of nostalgia.
Not Even One Horse: RePOP Original Mode Fixes the Classics
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP caused a bit of chitter-chatter earlier this year as the previously developed fast-money 2012 original is getting that push up to HD (hopefully) and launch on Xbox One. But early previews showed off something called RePOP Mode, which sounded different from the classic experience that was so beloved. This brought on speculation and worry that content could be rewritten.

Yoshimi Yasuda recently responded to these concerns. Yasuda said dismemberment, special cutscenes, character models, character behavior, comic-style illustrations of the characters, and their background stories will not be changed at all in RePOP’s “Original Mode”. Yasuda clarified:
“The Original Mode is a mode in which the same gore expression, cut scene direction, character design (With Motion), comic-style character introduction images, and costumes as Version 1.00 are reproduced completely with achievements being available ” However, there are no revision requests from a single platform towards the Original Mode of this particular work that we have applied for approval.

DeCODING THE CONFUSION: RePOP Mode vs Original Mode
The misunderstanding here comes because the initial previews focused on a Salvo-style RePOP Mode aiming to reach general audiences, including younger gamers and streamers. A version of the game that was tailored to be more all-able and family-friendly.
Yasuda’s most recent statement is in line with that, of course – preserving the elements regarding “the essence” of Nioh 2: The Complete Edition while also appeasing fans who just want those iconic aspects left alone.
Yasuda also tweeted the differences between modes, pointing to gameplay improvements as well as ‘enhanced graphics/ performance & bug fixes.
Finally, what I will say again as we mostly covered in our June update was a dedication to improving the game while keeping its core intact – though some incorrectly interpreted that effort and wondered if it needed controversy.
PeachMilky’s Verdict: From a Fan – aospalter
Tokyo model and streamer PeachMilky, an official ambassador for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP also chimed in to support Yasuda’s statement with her own success story. She assured fans:
Of course, playing early is already very enjoyable as an original fan of the game. The comedy and hijinx of the original plus prettier graphics, ease your eyes during attacks. I haven’t been let down.
It speaks as a testament to the faithful recreation in-game of Original Mode that even those skeptical of PeachMilky’s impartiality would find her gameplay footage though. You can check out her playthrough below to see firsthand how Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remains authentic but new.
