The wave of buzz for the unofficially confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 is starting to grow, despite the fact that the console hasn’t even been unveiled yet. It has not seen the light of day as to its design, price or date of release nor feature set yet though that’s not stopping fans from guessing and deciphering every single rumor online.
Well, a new report out of the blue claims that two major developers are already planning to bring their games on the next gen Nintendo hardware – Limited Run Games and Electronic Arts (EA). Is it a sign of things to come for something like the Switch 2?
Nintendo Direct and Switch 2 might be incoming rumors
But before we get onto the devs let’s address those Switch 2 teasers. Fans have been starving for any official word from Nintendo, and plenty are watching the winds to see if a rumored Nintendo Direct will hit sometime later this week or next. If the Direct goes ahead, that might be the moment when Nintendo Switch 2 is finally revealed.
Of course, that’s purely speculative, but a few reputable reports are popping up for companies Nintendo is working with on the new console. There are some interesting developer partnerships, which may suggest possible future games or launch line-up titles.

What might Limited Run Games have to do with it
The first highlighted developer is Limited Run Games, a company known for putting out physical releases of originally digital-only titles. This has led to speculation with Limited Run Games Chief Executive Officer visiting Nintendo of America on September 15.
Of course, this could have been for existing projects for the original Switch, but others think it might be a sign that Limited Run is gearing up for the eventual Switch 2. This gets combined with the CEO referring to Nintendo of America as “partners”, which throws some more fire into that battery conjecture that they could be prepping for physical releases of future Switch 2 games.
The parallels And it’s all too convenient of a time to take the big trip at Nintendo, something that the company has increasingly been publishing as digital-only releases lately. Should the Switch 2 be involved, this could also mean new ways for collectors to get physical of even the tiniest and most obscure indie experiences on the new boxes.
EA On Nintendo Switch 2
Now onto Electronic Arts, a company that has a bit of a love-hate-like-feel relationship with Nintendo. Meanwhile, very few of EA’s biggest franchises have been released on Nintendo platforms in the past. When they do, the titles often fail to live up to what you might get on another console. That might well change with the Switch 2.
Respawn Entertainment head and EA executive Vince Zampella confirmed in an interview with IGN he would be open to work with Nintendo on the upcoming console. Although he didn’t reveal anything specific, his words have fuelled speculation that EA could potentially port more of its renowned franchises to the Switch 2 – such as the Battlefield series.
Zampella said in the interview, “I mean, since [Switch 2] isn’t announced and it doesn’t exist, I can’t really comment on that.” “However, I would say that absolutely Nintendo – along with Microsoft and Sony — are tremendous partners for us. We would love to see it.”
This is a major event for the fans out there who have been wanting third-party support on Nintendo platforms for years. With EA embracing the Switch 2 could open the door to more AAA titles from their own library, such as FIFA and Apex Legends, ported over in a fuller form.

The Switch 2: What to Expect?
Nintendo Switch 2 rumors one of the more exciting whispers about the Nintendo Switch 2 is its potential for a significant hardware bump. There are a few reports out there that suggest Switch 2 could be as powerful as the current PlayStation 4, and that would be a marked increase over the original Switch.
If accurate, it would indeed improve the console’s ability to handle high-end graphical content and open up opportunities for additional third-party developers such as EA to bring more of their AAA-games to the system.
The Nintendo Switch 2 would also be an easier sell to the gamers who do play on PlayStation or Xbox, and don’t see a point in buying a console that’s not as powerful.
Is This the Dawn of a New Third-Party Support Generation?
A big change with the Switch 2 could be a renewed sense of third-party developer support, right out of the gate. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, etc.), which is another reason Switch was significantly hampered early on.
On the flipside, though, if companies such as EA and Limited Run Games are prepping for what could be for the Switch 2, well that could indicate Nintendo plans to launch with a way more expansive list of games than before – and that sort of a back catalog is nothing but an advantage.
Until then, we can only speculate, and if this is an indication that those developers expect the Switch 2 to be a smash hit on day one, it could mean they are betting that Nintendo doesn’t get a second chance at winning over fans with its next console.
What’s Next?
While fans are still waiting to hear official news on the Nintendo Switch 2, these rumors give some interesting hints as to what the console might be like. If the Switch 2 does happen, and especially if Limited Run Games and EA get on board, we could see a fairly robust library of indie games as well as big-budget blockbusters.
So do stay tuned on this space as in a few hours a Nintendo Direct announcement could come by the corner. Hype will continue to build for the Switch 2 regardless of if it is announced or not, but as we all know – silence does wonders.
