Overwatch 2 fans, get ready! Overwatch – Blizzard just revealed an exciting crossover with the popular anime My Hero Academia, adding five new skins to the game. This is another of a long line of crossovers between Overwatch 2 and my favorite Japanese anime as the game continues to draw connections with fan favorites in pop culture. The collaboration will take place from October 17-30 with these unique crossover skins that should get fans of both anime and Overwatch thrilled!
All of the anime crossovers in Overwatch 2 so far
This is not the first time Overwatch 2 has dipped into Japanese anime for a set of new skins. 2018 saw Blizzard partner with One-Punch Man, giving users the opportunity to Power-Up their favorite Heroes into characters from the manga. But what made the whole incredible was Doomfist in Saitama costume and Genji as the cyborg Genos. Kiriko took on her role as Terrible Tornado, and Soldier 76 became the never-popular fan favorite Mumen Rider.

Overwatch 2 made its own nod to another anime classic, Cowboy Bebop, earlier this year. Ashe became the fashionable Faye Valentine, and Cassidy was the slick Spike Spiegel. Mauga and Sombra did make an appearance as well, dressed as Jet Black and Ed. The collaborations have been successful with fans and the upcoming My Hero Academia crossover looks to keep that going.
My Hero Academia x Over: What It Is And Who Is In?
Five of the new Legendary skins – all based on My Hero Academia characters, which blend in some of the show’s most beloved heroes and villains with Overwatch 2. Below is the list of what’s coming in R5:
- Deku (Tracer): Izuku “Deku” Midoriya, the protagonist of My Hero Academia, will be portrayed by Overwatch speedster Tracer.
- All Might: Reinhardt as All MightThe power of the Symbol of Peace is carried into battle by the mighty hero, Reinhardt.
- Juno as Uraraka: Juno is going as Ochaco Uraraka, the smiling and gravity-manipulating hero of class 1-A.
- Reaper as Tomura Shigaraki: Going to the darker side of things, Reaper will be looking menacing with a mask that represents My Hero Academia villain leader, Tomura Shigaraki.
- Kiriko as Himiko Toga: This is a skin for Kiriko, which will transform Kiriko into one of the most beloved My Hero Academia villains, the savage and unpredictable Himiko Toga.
The skins, which are due to arrive alongside a new in-game mega bundle that includes extra cosmetics – though full details of what they will be are yet to be provided by Blizzard. These cosmetics should complement the Legendary skins, and fans themselves are hungry for more info.
Freebies and Bonus Content
Free items are also going to be up for grabs as part of this event, not just the skins themselves. Blizzard announced that the crossover will include five My Hero Academia sprays, plus a free weapon charm players can earn. With these free cosmetics, the event does offer an exciting extra layer on top of regular gameplay that allows all players a bit of My Hero Academia flavor to enjoy, even if they won’t get access to those skins.

Fan Reaction and Audience Wish List
The news has been met with plenty of excitement from the Overwatch community, as is often the case with big collaborations. Upon hearing the news of the new crossover, many fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts and propose extra My Hero Academia cast that might have also been included in the crossover.
There were some who wanted a Red Riot skin for Venture, Frog Girl for Lucio, the list goes on and on — oh and Bakugo for Junkrat. Though these characters did not make it in for this event, many around the community are happy with what potential summonses Blizzard decided to go with.
Fans were also excited to see that Juno was finally getting a skin, as many have waited for quite some time. But for veteran players, this crossover is all-the-more exciting to see her depicted as Uraraka while My Hero Academia fanservice pre-dampens you.
