BioWare Has a Surprise for Steam Deck Owners

What’s more, Bioware has reportedly ensured that The Veilguard works flawlessly on the Steam Deck as one of only a handful of Electronic Arts games without requiring your typical EA client login. The press release notes that this move demonstrates Bioware’s dedication to bringing together PC and Steam Deck players as the platform grows in popularity for those who have handheld woes.

Strategizing with the Timing for Halloween

It was recently rumored that an art book containing new material had hinted at the release date and fans thought it might be March. But as the official day arrived just a day later, it couldn’t have been timed better. For a game with this kind of traditionally large budget, to be essentially given away as part of Game Pass on launch day gives Dragon Age:

The Veilguard’s prime positioning going into the major Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales (not forgetting Cyber Monday), in which it will effectively become an effective top-seller at holiday parties gone wild. Of course, retailers will still purchase physical copies in bulk from a publisher and the return to the shelf of boxed versions is one that some may still dearly appreciate.

Not Competing Directly With Avowed

That October 31 date also means Dragon Age: The Veilguard does not release on the same day as its greatest competition in Obsidian’s upcoming RPG Avowed. The two games aren’t the same, but they are similar enough that combined with an expectation for a simultaneous release could mean players would be divided. Both EA and Microsoft Gaming are taking the time to separate their launches so that neither side cannibalizes one another’s potential sales.

One of the best Game of Yeariterations

While 2024 might not have stacked against how much of a battleship year that was 2023, it’s still looking to be an excitable affair for gaming. Greater still is the impact that titles such as Dragon’s Dogma 2, Persona 3 Reload, and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth have already left behind to say nothing of expansive DLCs a la Elden Ring:

Shadow of the Erdtree or Destiny 2: The Final Shape. Despite encountering some post-launch difficulty, Helldivers 2 also turned quite a few heads. Yet The Veilguard is but a few years away and you get the feeling that Bioware are about to do something special if they can pull it off, earning an instant Game of the Year for 2024.

By The Veilguard coming more in 2024, it is staking and setting itself up not just to win but also for what should be a crowded calendar the following year. AD After much development and resources poured into this project, the sweat and toil spent on it; Bioware is prepared to offer their work that could be one of its next masterpieces. The gaming world is waiting to see if The Veilguard has what it takes to dominate this Halloween.
