For all the time you spend wandering around in games, it’s still hard to beat seeing an adoring superfan show off what they’ve built in this medium. That would be Kris Thompson, whose slick video footage of all the iconic Star Trek ships he’s managed to rebuild in Starfield has caught the imagination of sci-fi fans everywhere. Thompson demonstrates the nostalgic vs creative balancing act perfectly, serving as a reminder of how awesome these legendary vehicles fit right at home in Bethesda’s latest RPG masterpiece.
Hopping Stars
Thompson recently showed off and shared a Starfield version of some of the best Star Trek ships in an interesting YouTube video. Featured vessels include a legendary USS Enterprise, our ominous mythic USS Enterprise-E, and the intrepid USS Thunderchild, along with appearances by the USS Mitchell, miniature models of the all-be-it ill-fated Defiant (USS Stargazer is here too!), and even an SS Enterprise (NX-01).

The ships themselves are beautifully detailed renditions of fan favorites, providing a visual iconography that will be permanently tied to any number of interstellar adventures saved in our PS4 screenshot folders.
The video showcases just how gorgeous they are but also shows them at work. You get to see the vastness of space that these ships soar through, the epic battles they fight in, and how skilfully they evade all manner of deadly obstacles. Thompson boldly claims that Starfield is the best Star Trek game out there, and from seeing the action-packed trailer, it’s tough to argue with that assertion.
Shipbuilding: The Next Starfield Frontier
Starfield may disappoint with its lack of open-world scope, but it would seem that at least in one key area the game went above and beyond the spacecraft-creation system. Modularity – A wide assortment of modular components, combine them in any way you like and build the scout vehicle of your dreams. This is yet another brilliant choice Shadowverse players will have to make for themselves, as they have the freedom to create their ships as this beautiful feature allows.

As soon as Starfield went live, they began hopping into this ship-smithing mode and the collections of designs inspired by various bits of popular culture that have resulted are pretty sweet. It is a trend Thompson’s creations are the perfect example of, his work showing how the ship-building system can be used to make fans’ dreams come true.
Mods: Take Creativity to the Next Level
Thompson used several mods to enhance the game’s ship-building mechanics and authentically recreate the classic Star Trek ships. They did this by adding new parts and modifying the way individual parts behaved changed to more closely mimic the behavior of the ships they were attempting to recreate. Although not every player may be capable of modding their games, Bethesda’s release of the Creation Kit provides one of us with a much simpler method to apply those custom addons, allowing better than-ever access for increased variety.

The community is still excited about Starfield and looking forward to upcoming expansions that are sure to improve ship-building in the game. The most recent Shattered Space DLC was underwhelmed, as it included no new ships parts to tinker with, much to the dismay of fans. Although the thought of an enormous content patch that focuses solely on expanding the ship-building system is one I’d love to daydream about and surely has some community whispering – What do you think?
So What Do Starfield Fans Have to Look Forward To?
With Starfield in a state of continual half-life, the type of player that has come to spill so much ink over these ship-building tools will be only too relieved to receive any extra news on it. Thompson’s awesome display is proof of how the game could be and a seal of approval for the creative minds responsible. This paves the way for an almost unlimited number of possibilities to be realized in a truly expansive and your very own spaceship endeavor.
Kris Thompson’s video is a tribute to imagination and the past for Starfield fans who also love Star Trek, reminding us all that gaming not only has infinite possibilities but can also return us to a time when anything was truly possible. So, grab your controllers and prepare to blast off into the unknown-only Venusian Be artist knows what other wonders are out there!
