Like the The Elder Scrolls Online and Grand Theft Auto V, but not quite as drastic some worry that continued support for Fallout 76 could drive resources off of development for its inevitable followup. However, not so says Jon Rush he is the creative director at Fallout 76.

The Fallout series returned to the limelight by way of Amazon Prime’s successful TV adaptation, sparking renewed interest in the franchise. Now season one has been undoubtedly binge-watched and dissected online, the focus of a lot of fans is back on the games – which means it’s time for Fallout 5 speculation to rear its head again.

TheGamer At least one fan asked if Fallout 76 might be preventing Bethesda from developing the next installment in its post-apocalyptic RPG series, a notion Vice President Pete Hines dismissed when speaking to TheGamer.

That idea was shot down by him, of course: the work on the online multiplayer RPG is not slowing development for its next major release.

There has been no announcement from Bethesda regarding Fallout 5 yet but it sounds like the game is still some ways off, with Rush’s comments suggesting that nothing major will be pushed back as a result of Fallout 76.

Notwithstanding, any substantial updates might take some time to appear. Does this mean that Fallout 5 is somewhere really far away in the distance while Bethesda staggers on with its most immediate focus, Starfield DLC, and then The Elder Scrolls another installment beyond even that?

Fans will have to make do with the Fallout TV series in the meantime and carry on exploring the wasteland of Fallout 76, which has seen an influx of players since the show was released. In the meantime, fans wait for vast stretches of Fallout 5 ahead — but it’s clear that the future game has not been wayward in development.
