Introduction
Firewalk Studios has revealed the launch roadmap for their title Concord, giving folks a good idea of what to expect as content is released. Season 1: The Tempest
Concord will debut its inaugural season, “The Tempest,” in October 2024 (a bit before the Wipeout Reunion Turismo event, even), PlayStation announced via the official PS Blog. In contrast to other modern games, Concord won’t offer a Battle Pass or paid expansions as part of the studio’s pledge for fair and equitable gameplay. Instead, the first season will deliver tons of new content like →
- A new playable Freegunner
- A brand-new map
- Extra Freegunner-custom versions
- Just a larger selection of cosmetics
- New rewards
- Game Vignettes (as has been Concord’s narrative experience) are back for a new season
In fact, besides these content updates; Dawn Fog Season 1 is going to provide Concord’s in-game store for the players who would like to buy cosmetic items. Firewalk has previously underlined that all paid items will be cosmetic and none of them will impact the balance.
Season 2 and Beyond
Firewalk intends to continue to invest in sustaining the momentum of Concord all the way through 2025 and beyond. The studio has announced plans for Season 2 to happen in January 2025 assuring fans of a year´s worth of new stories all planned in advance. It’s a considerably more sound post-launch strategy, ensuring that players receive an ongoing supply of new things to do and earn.

Learning about the Crew Builder System
One of the most exciting features in Concord is undoubtedly its Crew Builder, and it was something that piqued our interest as well as initially tripped up beta players. Unlike classic hero shooters, where players usually stick with one character that they master…Concord wants to flip this and inspire experimentation via its system.
How the Crew Builder Works
Concord allows players to make a Custom Crew, consisting of 12 crew members. But this has some weird variations too such as:
- Players are required to have a minimum of 5 different Freegunners in their Custom Crew.
- Three slots for permutations of the same Freegunner allow a little customization.
- Custom Crews even have four Backup slots that get filled with Freegunners chosen at random, and they are usually chumps I do not normally play as.
This design will result in players traveling across various characters and how they pursue certain strategies that are nearly identical type of grind you would expect to come from a deck-building game.
Firewalk hopes to do this by having players focus on specific objectives and push for more diverse makeups in teams, with the idea that forcing people into different roles will further granitize an understanding of game mechanics & have them enjoy coming up with fun strategies.

No Traditional Hero Roles
Further adding to that complexity, Concord eschews traditional hero roles such as the tank, DPS, or support role in a skilled format. Rather, all Freegunners are passive gunslinger guys in terms of high DPS and actually knowing how to shoot shit; but with roles defined by their abilities (ok someone is good at ranged sniping or flanking etc).
Players need to balance these abilities within their Custom Crew, which rakes atrocities in Concord a strategy that does not hinge on traditional roles like elsewhere success is Moran rather than Gary Sundry.
Properly Assembled Crews & Special Bonuses
Crew bonuses Promote careful team building even more by lending additional perks to players who build balanced Crews on Concord. Players in turn are driven to try different mixes of Freegunners and their variants, all the while being gently ushered towards a richer gameplay experience.
Looking Back at the Reveal
Looking back at the process of Concord from ideation to marketing, it is evident that Firewalk Studios had a strong vision for both the mechanics and subjects being addressed in this game. But the May 2023 debut appears to have been unable or unwilling –
likely some of both, in this economic timeline simulation game – to communicate just how unique and deep Crew Builder is as a new trade system for prospective players who might be interested in what they learned.
That’s the uphill battle Firewalk has had to face if they wanted out of their hero shooter; yet here we are, now looking at a game that very much seems like it could be fronting whatever definition or next generation you have in your mind for them.
Release Date
The first of the two games is due to come out on August 23, 2024; Concord will be released for PlayStation®5 and PC via Steam*, with fans eagerly anticipating a true crew-based shooter featuring various characters.
Conclusion
Concord is on track to be one of the top titles in 2024 with a strong roadmap and an emphasis on innovation that its Crew Builder system provides. This tells us clearly that Firewalk Studios remains dedicated to pampering players with a brand-new experience, that features zero pay-to-win and high strategic depth. As the launch date nears, we are all eager to see where this very ambitious project is going.
