MindSeize Review

With a solid mix of fluid combat, captivating world-building, and storylines, this 2D action-adventure game has been making waves for all those Metroidvania souls out there in the gaming community.

Critics are praising its depth, top-notch level design, and exhilarating boss battles, no wonder MindSeize is being noticed as one of the best in its genre. But what exactly sets this game apart?

We are focusing on the latest and greatest that gamers and critics are talking about.

MindSeize Review

A Perfectly Executed Game

MindSeize stands alongside some of the best out there by boasting deeply dynamic combat and immensely intricate level design. The Metroidvania Review says that though the game is challenging, it provides a level of engagement for players to become immediately absorbed in its uniquely difficult boss fights. They even refer to them as one of the highlights, including facing up against its diverse and aggressive bosses in one-on-one encounters.

Video Chums was also very impressed with MindSeize calling it immersive in their 4/5 review. In their review, they highlighted the atmosphere as a standout, providing a fantastic soundtrack that places players in an enigmatic and far future world. More than a Metroidvania: Challenges and setting Well cared for atmosphere combined with all the features mentioned above make an exciting journey from MindSeize.

Background: Hunt, Across the Universe

In MindSeize, players assume the role of M.C. Fox, a private investigator with a tragic backstory. After a near-fatal fight with The Ascended, who are similar an organized crime syndicate as we’ve had in the setting, M.C. is crippled and his daughter’s mind is taken over by their leader.

However, this is not the final stop in his journey not by a long shot. Stealing some tech then his own sister in law, becomes the last straw and opens M.C.’s mind already cracked from all the experiments focused on jailbreaking his daughter and puts it into a robo-body called MAG for MC Across Galaxy as they run across space.

MindSeize ramps up its storytelling in ways that, for me, makes a noticeable sidegrade from a previously mentioned indie project like Ditto – being scripted by someone who scripts for profession lends you lore and comic book cutscenes with voice acting akin to here.

MindSeize Review

The Ascendant opens up four unique planets for players to explore and try to make sense of, as the game promises a compelling story for you to unravel. Players can also interact with M.C.’s crew members during the journey, a personal touch that strengthens camaraderie in this high-octane adventure.

Modern vintage gameplay

MindSeize is a modern take on classic 2D action, the heart and soul of every Metroidvania. The game plays ultra-smooth; It is fast-paced and aesthetically pleasing with appealing 16-bit pixel-graphics which any retro-gamer will love. But as retro-gauntlet as it looks and feels, this game is also kind of timeless and fresh in a way too, thanks in part to the music (ambient vibes) and crunchy sound effects.

As an exploration-based game, naturally you would expect MindSeize to do this right, and it does. On the table: Four planets, each different and full of secrets and hazards to overcome. The chance to come back and nap, chat with your crew, breaks up the pace of combat considerably and helps give it more character.

Customization and Upgrades

Through the game, you will be able to customize your robotic body-MAG-as you upgrade her abilities by installing various Mods and Weapons. This injects greater flexibility to the gameplay as individual players can align their combat style with their own preferences. It has a build for whether you want to take an aggressive or defensive strategy.

Cool bits of customisation does not just halt at fight also. Its lore is exceptional and its world-building second to none, so you will want to run through Indiana Jones-style investigating everything you can see.

Getting back to why MindSeize is a must-play

Now let’s be clear, MindSeize has a lot going for it from the get-go with its immersive sci-fi world, tough-but-fair combat and deep story so not all of this is surprising. Successfully walking the tightrope between nostalgia and invention, this game feels tried-and-true while simultaneously treading a slightly different path in terms of being a Mania entry but not following tradition.

For me, this came in the amazing soundtrack, for some this will be the boss fights and others it could be that deep personal story of a father trying to save his daughter…There is something for everyone in MindSeize If you don’t already own it, buy this little gem.

MindSeize is no mere Metroidvania; it’s an adventure in outer space you won’t soon forget.

MindSeize Release Date PS5

To date, however, MindSeize on the PlayStation 5 has not been given an official release date. Originally released on Steam in February 2020 for PC, the title caught the attention of gaming enthusiasts with its Metroidvania-style gameplay and sci-fi environments.

One such game is MindSeize but the same has not been ported to next-gen consoles such as the PS5 as of yet. Some fans of the game are optimistic that an upgraded version of it for current consoles, including PS5 might be in development, however that has never been confirmed by developers. With the success of indie games on PlayStation, it’s likely that any potential future port could benefit from the beefier PS5 going forward to deliver either faster load times or a higher resolution. F

or now, PS5 players will simply have to bide their time or even take a look at the game through any backwards compatibility options if it surfaces on PS4 or earlier systems.

MindSeize Release Date Xbox

My Memory of Us Gets Xbox Release Date (Aug 2019) MindSeize Receives Release Dates Since our last episode, we have another release date to announce; however, this one isn’t for My Memory of Us.

So far, a PC version of the game is planned for early 2020 via Steam; while the game has been praised already for its Metroidvania elements and engaging story, no announcements about an Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One release.

As Xbox Game Pass becomes the new norm for so many indie games, one would hope that MindSeize could find a home on an Xbox near you at some point in the future. That said, the devs haven’t specifically announced when this content will drop so you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled. MindSeize is best played on PC as it was intended to be released.

MindSeize Release Date PS4

However, the PlayStation 4 is still stuck with a vague launch window for MindSeize. Originally released in 2020 on PC The day before, there was no word from the studio on whether or not a PS4 game is in the offing MindSeize offers much to like for PS4 fans of Metroidvania-type games, as the deep sci-fi lore, hard-as-nail boss battles and twitch combat should be right up their alley.

Still, as there has not been a port announced yet (in case this still works confirmation bias is probably needed here), PS4 players will have to wait-for now. The game’s hand-drawn 16-bit pixel graphics and fully immersive music will surely make the title perform well for a PlayStation package too, but right this exact minute there are no words on behalf of the developers as to when it will launch.

As always, gamers should stay tuned to further details on whether the highly successful indie will be ported to PS4; follow various gaming news outlets and look for developer updates.

FAQ

How long does it take to beat Mindseize?

MindSeize takes 12-18 hours to complete, depending on how much of the game world you explore. The basic story alone takes about 10 to 15 hours. Of course, for completionists who are looking to fully explore Rare’s latest outing, including its secret areas and upgrades, that time might push into 20-25 hours.

This is a 2D Metroidvania featuring planetary exploration backed up with challenging boss battles, so the time to beat varies greatly depending on skill level. But if you are a completionist who plans to get all the upgrades/mods and really dive into all of the lore, then you will probably have more game time with this. High speed action and an immersive sci-fi backdrop make the game a rollercoaster ride from start to finish.

Everhood has elements of a rhythm game and some light RPG elements – is expected to take 6-8 hours to complete just the main story. It also does a good job of mixing-up its musically-inspired battles and story-telling in ways that never overstay their welcome.

Those looking to see everything, save for a few quests and some optional content, might be able to squeeze out 10-12 hours of play. This may extend the playtime for those who wish to unlock multiple endings, so if you are more of a completionist it has that sort of content.
