NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros have been enjoying all the fanboy excitement over their upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 expansion, Khaos Reigns.
The heat is on so high with the new gameplay trailer of Sektor, a fan-favorite character; it cranks things up to an electric start! The expansion launches on September 24 and is said to introduce yet more madness onto the battlefield – that Sektor news alone has us pretty hype.
As can be seen in the latest trailer linked above via Gematsu, Sektor will maintain his arsenal of high-tech death-dealers. With the help of highly capable technology such as napalm bombs and guided missiles, Sektor is a superior killing machine in Fire God Liu Kang’s New Era.
The trailer shows off her hovering over the battlefield, precision striking opponents from on high as well as performing an unbelievable finishing move where she becomes a rhino before smashing all opposition out of existence.
Here we have Sektor, who – according to his official bio – has some deep Lin Kuei roots of her own. Born into Lin Kuei’s nobility, she was trained in the ways of assassination and manipulated to believe that Scorpion had killed her family to motivate her to fight for Shao Kahn but would leave his employment upon suffering enough losses.

The mix of hybrid programming, biological augmentation, and traditional martial arts practices gives Frost a real advantage in her role as the #2 linchpin to Sub-Zero within the Lin Kuei -dragging this ancient assassin’s guild into an age where they will adapt or die.
“With Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, our goal is to deliver an even more exciting second year of content that will offer the cinematic story fans have been asking for while adding in plenty of fighters and game features players want,” said co-creator Ed Boon.
They also brought back the fan-favorite Animalities – sort of Mortal Kombat’s versions of “Finish Him” du Jour, but they’re in as a parting gift to all players as free post-launch content.
Mortal Kombat 1 was released on September 19, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 (not), PC, and Xbox Series X/S selling over three million copies already.
The game comes to fans as a sequel to the Mortal Kombat 11 breadcrumbs that dropped in 2019 and presents players with an entirely new entry point into the storyline, which feels both refreshing and comforting.
Fans of Mortal Kombat are anxious to get back in the ring and see what’s next as it hits its 11 game adding a bit more twist to the franchise with their newest upcoming expansion, Khaos Reigns.
