Pink Star may always be second fiddle to his square, yellow best friend, but this new video reveals that he’s finally stepping out into the limelight. Known as SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game, the upcoming title will be released at the start of October. Screen Rant obtained an exclusive insight into a fresh fragment of gameplay to give fans a hint of what to expect with the video embedded below
The Patrick Star Game is the first SpongeBob console game with his name in the title, and marks the first time Patrick has starred in any sort of prominent role. It’s developed by PHL Collective (who you might know from Justice League: Cosmic Chaos) and published by family-friendly Outright Games.
The sandbox adventure promises to let players explore iconic SpongeBob locales, while undertaking oddball missions for your favorite characters. And judging from what we’ve seen, it’s full of humor, imagination and charm.

Squidward in Pink Fingerpaints – Exclusive Gameplay Clip
The exclusiveIt showcases one of the many things you can do in the game, and its probably not what anyone was expecting. Here, we have an art showdown between Patrick and Squidward. With a gigantic canvas and a box full of crayons, Patrick looks at iconic elements from SpongeBob in an attempt to doodle one of his own; this time with some Krabby Patties as the subject, Squidward for fun, and even SpongeBob!
Naturally, Squidward is not amused and mocks Patrick as he competes. This time, however, three fish judges give Patrick straight 10 scores but Squidward is not amused. Bill Fagerbakke, who voices Patrick in the game is great as always, and when hearing Rodger Bumpass deliver a slightly different reading of Squidward’s lines than usual one can’t help but grin theatrically.
The Patrick Star Game – We Know What to Expect
The art contest offers a morsel of the game to fans, but it gets more in depth: The mode sounds like it’s built to encourage creativity, exploration, and chaos: perfect for a do-it-yourself SimCity map. Fans will have the chance to run around locations from the show, like Jellyfish Fields and Glove World while doing missions for characters such as Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob himself.

The open-world structure puts players on the map and allows them to explore, interact with objects in a variety of ways, including by blowing things away with reef blowers and using projectiles to change the instances. While you do of course have to complete missions, there is lots of sandbox-style gameplay where gully new destruction and rampant Patrick mayhem can be had.
Outfits, outfits and mayo jars!
Players can unlock a variety of costumes for Patrick by doing things like earning rewards such as mayonnaise jars—a little in-joke for series fans. Whether it be his band uniform in the “Sweet Victory” performance or other various classic looks from the show, there are tons of cool Easter eggs built into this game.
For fans of the franchise for whom this world was first created, all these references will be a treasure to hunt down and catch (you have got to see it once you do! It is) wherein that never existed before younger players may enjoy a bright and lively universe.
