A Sony patent may explain the mystery surrounding the Wukong: Black Myth-only PS5 version New reports are giving further credence to the PS5 exclusivity deal rumors but they also claim that if Fable is delayed on Xbox Series X|S it’s not due to platform limitations.
Buzz began when Forbes editor Paul Tassi and IGN followed up an earlier report by Windows Central’s Jez Corden, YouTuber King David, and Iron Lords Podcast. But insiders including Jeff Grubb and Shpeshal Nick Baker had contradictory takes on the matter, leading to further issues with understanding.

Further fanning the flames, Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter revealed he had heard similar whispers regarding PS4 exclusivity from his assets. Microsoft has responded to these allegations and stressed that the Black Myth: Wukong delay on Xbox is not tied to anything specific in connection with Xbox. Their statement was clear:

As we announced previously, we are thrilled to launch Black Myth: Wukong for Xbox Series X|S and are working closely with Game Science. We cannot comment on the Xbox daters of our partners and we are not afraid that others will tell us,” he said.
Leadbetter and Tassi have attempted to resolve those disparate reports. According to Grubb, Sony has not signed any marketing agreement with Game Science. While exclusivity deals can come in many forms and aren’t always about promoting. Baker’s detailed report includes Game Science claiming they had to tell Sony a technical issue – and the publisher funded development that resulted in a prioritized PS5 version.
Tassi posits these rumors could tell a more complete tale together – rather than being promoted outright or going full exclusive, Sony might have successfully struck some kind of agreement that resulted in the game skewing toward PS5. However, Sony paid for it, though we had to work through the understanding that a clone would eventually make its way over— something you’d have been forgiven for thinking was possible throughout Resi 4.
But the real question at play – if there is one to worry over as fans nitpick “exclusivity” – is whether Game Science might have been taken advantage of in Sony’s deal. As Game Science will be tied up in any number of NDAs I dare say the real nature of the deal may never see daylight.
Sony and Game Science did not provide any further details, leaving the gaming community to fill in all of this itself; so the game is still very much hanging by a thread as it looks towards its reputation.
