“Silent Hill 2 is essentially built into our DNA, I feel,” Lenart said. It’s a much more emotional, personal story than the first or third game. We at Bloober have always wanted to tell human-focused very personal stories about experiences and emotions.
We’re working on that rather than delving into the realm of occultism and otherworldly stuff.
Silent Hill 2 was more of a type when it comes to the supernatural themes not moving way too far off from the previous game which made perfect narratives for Bloober. Głomb recapped this, saying “This was the perfect fit for us as Bloober Team with where we are coming from and what games we made in the past.
The rest of the team’s love affair with Silent Hill 2 has seeped into their work as well. “Even in our first games, we were inspired by Silent Hill 2 in some aspects,” Głomb said. “Such as how Layers of Fear which is a completely different game than Observer was inspired by Silent Hill 2 and the way it had multiple endings based on subtle decisions.
A remake of Silent Hill 2 has been announced for PC and PlayStation 5 and will be released in October the year of our gamer goddamn lord two-thousand-and-twenty-four — not a minute too soon, or we’ll all shit ourselves.
