Silent Hill 2 is a Master Class in Psychological Horror Remade
As you could have probably guessed, Silent Hill 2 tells the tale of James who is drawn to Silent Hill through a letter written by his dead wife Mary asking him to come back there; stating that they spent many special moments together at their “special place” even if he can not remember it. While James wanders around the town covered in fog, he meets a woman named Maria who looks like his dead wife.
One of the most beloved chapters in the Resident Evil Universe returns for modern consoles on October 15th. This narrative will unfold with incredible graphics and rich sound, captivating new audiences to experience this old-world town like never before.
Highlights of The Silent Hill 2 Remake
– High-End Graphics and Sound: The remake will also feature the use of ray tracing among other technical enhancements that seek to deliver an environment as terrifyingly realistic as this Silent Hill universe. This is an impactful, immersive atmosphere design thrown in with a balance of fresh soundscapes to creep players out that little bit more and the new creaks and whispers add so much to it.
Larger Environments: Kojima implies that players with be able to roam around Silent Hill more so than before, as they now include areas previously locked. In those 21 years so much has changed that experienced veterans will be making entirely discoveries, while keeping the story alive for an enthusiast who spent his formative years watching all this unfold.
– New Over-the-Shoulder Camera: The original fixed camera angles have been completely removed, and replaced with new behind-the-back 3rd-person gameplay. This change adds terrific immersion and tension as you weave your way through the town’s contorted areas, facing off against its grotesque denizens.
An engaging combat system, which brings back classic weapons like the steel pipe and handgun but with evolved gameplay including new mechanics such as timed dodges (to keep you on your toes while wandering through dark corridors) and aim-down sights. This makes it that much more nerve-wracking and intense to fight our way through the monsters in town.
